Privacy Policy

Plain-English Summary
JustMap does not collect, store, or share your personal data. Your GPS location is read only while the app is on your screen, is never saved, and never leaves your device. The route files you import stay on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to anyone who downloads and uses JustMap on an iPhone, regardless of location — including the EU, UK, California, and all other jurisdictions.
2. Data We Collect
GPS / Location Data
Your current GPS coordinates are read only while the app is in the foreground to show your position on the loaded route map. Location is rendered live on-screen and discarded. No coordinates are written to disk, logged, or transmitted. Location data is not sent to any server or third party.
You can withdraw location permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → JustMap. Withdrawing permission only removes the position dot; all other features continue to work.
GPX Route Files
Route files you open in JustMap are held in memory during your session to display the route line on the map. Files are not copied, persisted, transmitted, uploaded, or shared with any third party.
Crash Reports and Analytics
JustMap does not include any crash reporting SDK or analytics SDK. No usage events, screen views, error logs, or device identifiers are transmitted.
Map Tiles
The app uses map tile providers to render the base map. When the app loads map tiles online, those requests are served under the provider's own privacy policy. JustMap does not operate any map tile servers and does not receive or store tile request logs.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Account credentials or user profiles
- Email addresses or phone numbers
- Contacts, calendar, photos, or media
- Purchase history or payment data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- Browsing history or cross-app tracking
- Persistent location history or breadcrumb tracks
3. Legal Basis (GDPR / UK GDPR)
GPS location rendering relies on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — real-time position display is the core product function, and you are informed at permission dialog time. You can withdraw by revoking location permission at OS level.
GPX file handling relies on contract / performance of service (Art. 6(1)(b)) — files are processed solely on your device.
4. Data Retention
- GPS location: Not retained. Discarded after each rendered frame.
- GPX file contents: Not retained beyond the active app session (held in memory only).
- App preferences: Stored locally on your device using iOS standard user defaults. Not accessible to us. Deleted when you delete the app.
There is no server-side data retention because no data is transmitted to any server.
5. Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party.
The only external data flows are map tile requests to the map provider (subject to their privacy policy) and standard App Store distribution analytics handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. International Data Transfers
Because JustMap does not transmit your personal data to any server we operate, there are no international data transfers to disclose beyond the map provider's own data flows.
7. Your Rights
GDPR (EU / UK)
- Access (Art. 15): Contact privacy@justmap.app
- Rectification (Art. 16): Not applicable — we hold no stored personal data
- Erasure (Art. 17): Delete the app from your device. No server-side deletion needed.
- Restriction (Art. 18): Revoke location permission in iOS Settings.
- Object (Art. 21): Revoke location permission or contact privacy@justmap.app
- Complaint: You may lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority.
CCPA (California)
Because JustMap does not sell personal information and stores no personal data on our servers, CCPA rights are satisfied by design. For questions, contact privacy@justmap.app.
8. Security
All personal data (GPS location, route files) is processed entirely on your device and is not transmitted to any network endpoint we operate. iOS system-level security (encrypted storage, sandboxed execution) applies.
